Our Work
The Sau Po Centre on Ageing aims to advance the well-being and quality-of-life of older people in Hong Kong. We are proud of the fact that many major policy and program innovations in elder care in Hong Kong came from our research studies and knowledge exchange initiatives. To name but a few:
-
We provided consultancy to the Social Welfare Department in setting up the long term care assessment system in Hong Kong.
-
We partnered with the St. James Settlement to develop innovative dementia care day care program in Hong Kong.
-
Our proposal on community care voucher was recently adopted by the HKSAR Government and a pilot program will be launched in 2013.
-
Our advice on ageing-in-place models was endorsed by the Hong Kong Housing Society and a pilot program will be implemented in their rental housing estate.
-
We partnered with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and the Charles Kao Foundation to introduce the REACH II, an evidence based dementia caregiver support program, in Hong Kong. The first Elder Garden Center, which is based on the REACH II model, was established in Kowloon East in September 2012.
-
We are running an advance care management training designed for social workers, nurses, and other helping professionals in Hong Kong with an aim to strengthening their professional competence in elder care.
Your Support can contribute to the Well-being of Elderly
Without the support from our community partners, we cannot achieve all these. The Sau Po Centre on Ageing is operating on a self-financing basis. In the past decade, we are extremely honored to have received donations from individuals, corporations, and charity foundations which recognize our work in enhancing the well-being of older people through research, education and knowledge exchange activities. We would like to thank all those who have given generous support to our Centre and to appeal for your continuous support.
