Our Work
The Sau Po Centre on Ageing is committed to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of older adults in Hong Kong through research, innovation and knowledge exchange. Our work has informed major policy and program developments, including long-term care strategies, ageing-in-place housing solutions, and market-based models like the Community Care Service Vouchers scheme. Our contributions to the Elderly Services Programme Plan (ESPP) have helped guide the strategic development of elderly services in Hong Kong. We also pioneer service models that address the pressing needs of older adults. Our initiatives promote holistic and sustainable elder care from innovative dementia care and caregiver support programs to professional training and exercise coaching for frail elders, as well as district-based caregiving support and in-home respite services.

While our existing projects are well-supported by dedicated donors, we are now seeking partners who share our core values and are interested in supporting our strategic directions. One of our key initiatives is AI and Ageing, which explores how artificial intelligence can be exploited to improve the lives of older adults. This initiative focuses on enhancing quality of life, care delivery, and early intervention for older adults through data-driven insights, predictive technologies, personalized support systems.
AI and Ageing reflects our broader commitment to innovation, equity, and sustainable impact in ageing research and practice. It brings together expertise from gerontology, data science, healthcare, and social policy, addressing complex challenges faced by ageing populations. We envision this initiative as a platform for transformative research and scalable solutions that can benefit Hong Kong and wider region.
